How many times a day do you actually sit and relax for 5 minutes? My guess is probably never.

You probably eat your lunch at your desk or on-the-go, and spend your life going from task-to-task or meeting-to-meeting. We’re always way too busy to find time to relax!

I used to think that the only way I could really relax was to go on holiday, but actually having done some research and trying out a few things, there are ways that you can quickly relax throughout your day.

And surprise, surprise it’s good to relax!

It’s been proven that people who operate in a more relaxed way not only perform better and feel better but it also does wonders for their health and wellbeing.

We all know we feel so much better when we chill out… So here’s a few tips and things to try today that you’ll love and actually work!

Work Out YOU:

1. Get tensing

A fab tip to try if you want to chill ASAP is this (it’s super simple & quick).

All you need to do is: tense your whole body as tight as possible and then relax and let go. I love to do this lying down after a hard day but you can even do it between tasks while sitting at your desk.

2. Treat yourself to a massage

Who doesn’t love a good massage to relax…. But I think a hand massage is the only type of massage you can get away with in the workplace, however it can still work wonders.

All you need to do is: Pick up your favourite hand cream, put some pressure on, thumb to palm and take some nice deep breaths. There you have it, a reflex massage! This can really help you relax in those precious 5 mins.

3. Close your eyes

Most of you will stare at a screen for a good chunk of your day, and it tires out your eyes. You even blink less when you’re staring at it so to relax it’s good to take a break.

All you need to do is: Close your eyes and gently place the palm of your hands over your eyes for a few minutes. Or you can also try a nice refreshing eye spray as an alternative! They are refreshing, and can last up to 4 hours.

4. Schedule a time for stress and worries

This is a major top tip from therapists! So, set yourself a time to tackle them.

All you need to do is: Give yourself some time to think about what’s negatively playing on your mind and write it all down. This can almost instantly clear and relieve your brain.

It’s actually quite relaxing getting things done and cleansing your mental clutter. This way you’re not dwelling on them all day either!

5. Try zest-ing

I love essential oils!!! And did you know that inhaling a citrus scent actually reduces stress.

All you need to do is: Pick up a small bottle of essential oils and keep it in your handbag or on your desk. Then place a drop on to your wrists or into the palm of your hands, rub them together and then inhale their scent. It will not only relax you but make you extra productive too.

I like to use Dottera oils – especially the scent Elevation. You can find out more about them here.

But if essential oils are not your thing, you can also use a scented citrusy candle or room spray and take some nice deep breaths and relax.

6) Herbal Teas

Instead of reaching for the coffee to get you through the day, why not try a herbal tea instead. There are so many different flavours and brands out there now for you to choose from.

All you need to do is: Swap out two or three of your caffeinated drinks a day and swap them for some herbal warming bliss.

I personally love the PositiviTeas you can find them here.

So go on… take a moment to relax today, you deserve it! And I promise you it’ll help you be at your best!
